I bought one of these for the holidays for my sister. She needed clothes, and instead of me picking them out, I decided to just give her one of these instead. I had no problems purchasing it and loading it with my desired amount. However, when she went to use it, it got denied, and the clerk had to run it twice before it would get accepted. Oddly enough, this happened at two different stores, both of which on the same day. Maybe it could have been because of the high traffic (it was December 26th when she tried to use it), but to this day, we never figured out why. Never had this problem with another prepaid card though, so maybe next time I will try something else.

I absolutely love these gift cards. Not only receiving them but giving them to anyone and everyone that I know. You can buy anything that you want with them and they are available almost anywhere. They are also accepted almost anywhere. One of the best aspects of this card is that they are backed by one of the best credit companies in the nation, American Express. When ever people ask me what I would like for a Christmas or Birthday gift, I usually tell them to get me an American Express gift card because of my travels outside of the United States. I usually have a couple in my wallet and if someone does not accept either my Visa or my Master Card, I have an American Express Gift card to fall back on.

American Express brand gift cards are one of the best choices you can get as a gift for someone else or for your own use (for example if you don't have a credit/debit card and need one to make a purchase from a particular seller). Like Visa and Mastercard, it is accepted by most merchants that accept credit cards, but has better customer service at least than Visa. In my experience with them, their reps were willing to refund me funds I had accidentally let expire from my card due to a misunderstanding of the date from which a maintenance fee would be charged, which Visa would not do. This is therefore probably the best choice for a general use gift card.
