I received an Applebee's gift card as a Christmas gift from my Aunt & Uncle one year. It was a gift card that she had purchased for $50.00 plus they issued her an additional $5.00 card which she gave to me as well. I love Applebee's and was ecstatic to use it as soon as possible. About a month later I went with a friend and when the bill came, I happily gave the gift card to the waitress who then stated that the card was never "activated". We had to pay for our meal. When I notified my Aunt, she gave me the receipt and the next time I went to Applebee's I made sure to hand them both the card and the receipt. I am not sure I like the fact that they cannot keep track of Gift Card purchases other than trusting a host to "activate" the card. On a positive note, I do like that they reward you with an additional $5.00 card to give in addition to the gift card or to use for yourself. All in all, I would have to say great reward program but keep your receipts!
